25 - 26 January 2024: FlyECO Kick-off Meeting in Cottbus, Germany
The successful launch of our EU project FlyECO took place on January 25 and 26, 2024. In Cottbus, the DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines welcomed representatives from te participating institutions and companies to the Kick-off event.
6 June 2024: ClimAvTech cluster session at ILA Berlin 2024
At the ClimAvTech cluster session at the ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace, our project coordinator Dr. Stefanie de Graaf presented our project and also led a discussion on the challenges of hydrogen combustion, storage and distribution.
The Climate Friendly Aviation Technology (ClimAvTech) cluster brings together ten research and innovation projects funded by the European Union via CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency to advance sustainable aviation.

2 - 5 July 2024: European Fuel Cell Forum (EFCF 2024) in Lucerne, Switzerland
The 16th EUROPEAN SOFC & SOE FORUM 2024 will address issues of science, engineering, materials, systems, applications and markets for all types of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell and Electrolysis technologies, as well as for any electrochemical reactors based on Solid Oxide Membranes.
Our collegue Luca Eichhorn from DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines presented his paper on the topic "Review and Evaluation of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell-Gas Turbine Hybrid System Design Choices for Aviation".
8 - 9 July 2024: Vienna Aviation Days 2024 in Vienna, Austria
The Vienna Aviation Days are organized through the Horizon Europe project exFan. The aim of this congress is to establish a platform to enable an exchange of green aviation topics for aviation research projects and build a connection between the different projects, programmes and policy makers. The topics of the projects contribute to future Hydrogen/Hybrid electric aircraft propulsion systems.
At the event, project coordinator Dr. Stefanie de Graaf presented FlyECO and our activities towards hydrogen propulsion. The audience could gain an insight into the tasks and challenges of the individual projects. This served as a basis for discussion and subsequent one-to-one meetings and pave the way for possible cross-project collaboration or to create ideas and cooperation for new projects.

Cranfield University presented FlyECO on their digital bookcase at the stand No. 1027 at Farnborough International Airshow 2024 in Farnborough, UK.
9 October 2024: EASN Conference 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece
Dr. Stefanie de Graaf from the DLR Institute for Electrified Aero Engines - the coordinator of FlyECO - presented the project at the 14th EASN International Conference in Thessaloniki, Greece.
There was also a joined presentation and panel discussion session on the topic "Novel Solid Oxide FC-based Propulsion Systems in Aviation" together with Cagatay Dagli from the project Hylena.
Furthermore, Dr. Evangelia Pontika presented the contributions of Cranfield University on the FlyECO project in her presentation on "Considerations and Implications of the Mechanical and Thermodynamic Integration of a Hydrogen Gas Turbine with Solid Oxide Fuel Cells for a Novel Integrated Power and Propulsion System".
